The Australian Labradoodle is a breed unto itself. It is not the same as a Australian Shepherd and Poodle mix, nor is it a Aussie-Labrador-Poodle mix. The Australian Labradoodle is a multi-generational breeding of dogs, typically Lab, Poodle and Cocker Spaniel, that go back to the original breeding in Australia in the 1980's. The Australian Labradoodle was originally bred to be a service dog and is still frequently used as therapy and service dogs, due to their consistent good nature. Australian Labradoodles are also allergy and asthma friendly due to the multi-generations of breeding.
